About MedBank
Our Mission
MedBank, a nonprofit enterprise, strives to improve the quality-of-life and collective health and well-being of the communities it serves. To that end, the organization provides access to vital medications to patients who, for a variety of socioeconomic reasons, otherwise could not obtain them.

MedBank works, both independently and through collaborative efforts, to connect those individuals to prescription medications for the treatment of chronic illness.

Due to financial hardship, many individuals are unable to purchase the monthly medications needed to effectively manage chronic conditions. MedBank’s work prevents hundreds of people in our community from having to make the bitter choice each month between paying for food and rent or buying life-sustaining medication.

Our goal is to help individuals access resources that foster improved health and reduce financial burden.

MedBank was founded in 1992 in the Chatham County Health Department. Since then, we have expanded into eight counties to include Chatham, Effinghan, Liberty, Bryan, Bulloch, Toombs, Long, Wayne, and McIntosh.

From 2005 to 2023, we have provided $23.4M in free prescription medications.

Along with providing individuals with life-sustaining medications, MedBank is active in the community it serves. Our staff regularly attend community events and provide education and resource information to attendees.

Staff present at various workshops to educate participants on various issues such as mental illness and medical issues.

We also hold our annual Benefit Reception & Concert, which is MedBank’s largest fundraiser of the year. The event raises much-needed funds for those who aren’t able to afford the vital medications they need.
